No New Idols Hong Kong

No New Idols:Hong Kong is an international performance and visual art festival combining. It draws inspiration from the rituals and actions of ancient civilizations reimagined by local and international contemporary artists and includes a range of art appreciation and experiential education activities. It aims to establish a platform for local young people to communicate with artists, enrich their artistic literacy through practical experience and broaden their international horizons. Through a series of performances, exhibition and workshop, the project, among other questions, asks what was communication before language, spirituality before religion and identity before nationalism. No New Idols aims to bridge local and overseas artists with the local community and strategically strengthen cross-country connection through diversified art practice to create artistic responses in the form of participatory design and live performances.
The event is divided into two phases. Phase I includes silk-screen printmaking, cyanotype, martial arts, and mural painting workshops conducted across the city in December 2019. This exhibition documents and showcases participants’ learning experiences.
Phase II includes site-specific exhibitions, performances and public engaging activities in winter 2020 - 2021.
