About
Nicolas Sibertin-Blanc: In The Moment
Opening Night: Friday 17th April 6-8pm
18th-25th April 2015
Sibertin-Blanc first picked up a camera and began exploring the city streets on his bicycle after being inspired by the writing of Andreas Kertesz. He tells us that the majority of his pictures are spontaneous; "I'm just waiting patiently until I think something is about to happen. Sometimes, I've waited for hours in the same place, targeting a couple who didn’t want to kiss. Finally, it happened.” This moment was captured in Le Baiser, one of the photographs included in the exhibition.
In The Moment will feature black and white photos, punctuated by the artist's recent foray into colour photography. The exhibition documents the artists’ personal journey in search of the ideal moment, as he responds to the scenes and characters he encounters on the streets of Paris. This exhibition will be the young photographer’s debut outside of his native France.
The opening night will be accompanied by ambient jazz selected by the artist, and there’ll be our usual donations bar with ales by local brewer, Springhead. The exhibition will launch in conjunction with Perry Henley and Rebecca Burt’s Retold, which will take place in our Project Space.
