About
'Reconstruction' is a solo exhibition by London based artist and model maker Nick Sellek, that brings together two of his most recent collections of work with deliberately overlapping subject and imagery.'Contrived Structures' consists of both photographs and detailed models that embrace socialist modernity in the form of architectural components, severed from context to emphasise the absurdity of their design.
The 'High Rise' photographs of anti-utopian model cityscapes, made up of distorted elements of residential and industrial engineering and architecture, intend to suggest an exciting simulation for exploration and discovery, without restriction.
The chosen title 'Reconstruction' not only relates to the physical processes involved in the making of the work, but also the information that the artist has amalgamated through photography, documentation and recollection.
