DRAF Studio hosts a curated selection of works from Scottish art schools by the Fleming-Wyfold Art Foundation

About

New Scottish Artists presents fifteen artists graduating in 2015 from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (Dundee), Edinburgh College of Art, Glasgow School of Art and Gray’s School of Art (Aberdeen).

Works by Euphrosyne Andrews, Leo Arnold, Scott Baxter, Emily Binks, Miriam Chefrad Edward Humphrey, Rosanna Lee, Jamie Limond, David Evan Mackay, Hannah Murray, George Ridgway, William Spendlove & Bros. (Painters & Decorators), Josephine Sweeney, Guy Titterington, Felix Welch and Hamish Young include painting, sculpture, printmaking and photography to video and performance.

The exhibition also showcases the work of this year’s winner of the Fleming-Wyfold Bursary, George Ridgway (Glasgow School of Art) whose practice includes performance, music, painting and sculpture.

Currently in its third year, the Fleming-Wyfold Bursary is an annual award for an artist exhibiting in the graduate shows of the five Scottish art schools. The winner receives £10,000 with an additional £4,000 production fee for a new work, and a year’s mentoring with independent curator Susanna Beaumont.  The work produced with the award by the 2015 winner, video artist Edward Humphrey, is also included in the exhibition.

The judges were James Knox (Director, Fleming-Wyfold Art Foundation), Vincent Honoré (Director, DRAF); Susanna Beaumont (independent curator), Kevin Harman (artist based in Edinburgh) and Bill Smith (former Director, the Fleming Collection).

The Fleming–Wyfold Bursary and exhibition New Scottish Artists are run in collaboration with the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.
