Constance Slaughter will talk about her journey into art from un-cool mother to exhibiting artist via Central St Martins, the Affordable Art Fair and MFA at Pratt Institute in New York and her most recent artist-curated exhibition in London Out There, Out Where, Outside.

About

Constance is a painter, sculptor and installation artist - her sculptures of wire and semi-transparent fabric figures and hybrid shapes are both playful and dark - characters reminiscent of childhood games and half remembered stories and songs. These child-toy-animal beings often feature in her strangely unsettling dark and funny paintings.Constance's lighthearted and positive illustrated talk will celebrate and discuss what it takes to exist as a working artist, what we define as success and how artist’s keep going in a tough environment, seeking people who are good for us and making things happen both within and outside the ‘Art World’.
