About
Natural Spectacle is a new show of four young female artists work that is strangely interconnected. They are Cordelia Cembrowicz, Gemma Anderson, Yasmin Ineson and Charlotte Harris. Each artist has transformed processes conventionally used in scientific practice to create poetic and unexpected results, quietly subverting the conventions of material and process to produce outcomes all curious in their own way.
Cordelia's tooth fairies carved out of human and animal teeth, Gemma's fictional photograms and Charlotte's modern twist on the victorian insect collection all use a methodology akin to scientific practice. Yasmin Ineson's sculptural installation eschews scientific and systematic views of microscopic worlds.
It is clear that each work has been inspired by details that nature offers but rather than formulate the subject matter as a scientist would, mystery and obscurity have been added. The results are exciting and inventive.
Natural Spectacle is curated by Cordelia Cembrowicz.
The gallery is open from 2-8pm everyday from Saturday 6th - Saturday 13th October. Private view Friday 5th October from 7.30pm.
