About

A not entirely unknown online lexicon records the following definition of geography: "Science of the distribution and connection of the most diverse phenomena and facts on the earth's surface, especially with regard to the interaction between earth and man." When Natalia Stachon confronts the phenomenon of a fade into geography when she turns her attention to a particularly puzzling interaction. Which requirements must be fulfilled so that something (or someone) can disappear in the phenomena and facts of the earth's surface? If one fades into the other, does the entire situation change or is it simply swallowed to the detriment of the one swallowed? And who exactly are THEY mentioned in the title of the exhibition? The question marks that appear cannot be easily removed from the world. A “fade” is too extraordinary to be grasped with the all too familiar categories and parameters of the visible world. Especially when it comes from a poem by the British writer Robert Graves, which is quoted in the exhibition title. Looking for ways To artistically measure the unknown area, Natalia Stachon designed a floor plan for Loock consisting of a few elements. It is a plan that does not aim at ideal statics, but at susceptibility to failure and instability of the conditions. Why? Because this increases the chances of capturing fade into geography not as an event of final fading, but as a transition that glows in neon colors.
