About

The Neue Nationalgalerie is presenting Nan Goldin's retrospective "This Will Not End Well" in the upper hall. Six rooms show her works in the form of slide shows and film projections accompanied by sound and music. Goldin's works tell stories of love, intimacy, addiction and loss. With sometimes tender snapshots of intimacy and relationships, everyday life, wild parties and the struggle between addiction and independence, Goldin continues to shape the perception of her time to this day. By focusing on slide shows and video installations, the exhibition goes back to the roots of Goldin's artistic practice. Goldin, who always wanted to be a filmmaker, sees the slide shows as film stills. "This Will Not End Well" thus takes up Goldin's original vision of how viewers should experience her art for the first time. The exhibition is touring the following museums: Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, Milan, Grand Palais, Paris.
