About
Artist Nadia Jaber (Spanish, b. 1986) inaugurates “About:Blank”, her first solo exhibition in No Free Bread Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. She will exhibit a selection of her latest works, reflecting not just on our visual ADHD but on what the mysterious machines behind social media are making us want, or think we want, and what that means for art appreciation.
Nadia channels the artist as a postdigitalist algorithm, an online magpie curating a found line, shape, and color to generate an analogue version of the digital stream of information. She asks: is art appropriation a way of stealing? If not: is it possible not to appropriate in the era of digital art?
