About

We are delighted to announce news of Nadeem Chughtai's first London solo exhibition in 9 years, this September. It's going to be a real event, and his biggest show yet.

Nadeem will be exhibiting all his paintings from the past four years since the departure of the nowhere man in early 2020 (moments before lockdown). These works are the result of the enforced conditions we were all placed under. Nadeem immediately took his pencils and sketchbook out into the world and it hasn’t stopped since. "Studiying painters like never before, adding to the rolladex of information about this wonderful art form. Sketching and painting from life, developing and expanding my artistic philosophy."

It all started with a tree, a tree in his local Ruskin park. A dead tree, standing proud like a beautiful sculpture, fossilising before our eyes. It’s position overlooks the whole park meaning it must have seen some action during its lifetime. So the tree was sketched and from that a narrative began to form, with a vision of what might be, or has already been. A parallel universe, perhaps… or perhaps not?

Even though the nowhere man does not appear in the works from the last four years, "I feel his soul remains within these new paintings. Maybe THIS is what he’s seeing directly whilst travelling through his world."

There will also will be plenty of nowhere works to see at the exhibition. From XL paintings, Bulletproof and Unravelling to ‘bridge pieces’, The Ride and Somewhere. There will be a total of 9 XL works that have never been seen together, and possibly ever will again. There'll be nowhere man rarities; etchings, prints, pastels, drawings and working sketches to rummage through.

All available works will be accessible over the Saturday and Sunday as Nadeem's own studio is only two doors down from the exhibition venue.

In short, this is going to be great and we'd love you to be there for this most special of exhibitions. Nadeem rarely shows his work even though, "I make it to be seen… and I can’t wait to put on the best possible show of the work, for everyone to come and experience in the flesh".

And finally… and most excitingly Nadeem will be unveiling his brand new, never been seen, XL painting.

So, book your flights, book your hotels… it’s going off!
