The exhibition is the result of the 2018 Méxtasis Open Call for artists from Mexico or of Mexican descent.
About
Following a successful first edition in 2016, Méxtasis presents its second iteration, establishing itself as a two-yearly open call & exhibition for the promotion of contemporary art relating to Mexico.
Mexico receives a very peculiar form of attention. Its international image has been manipulated by a spectrum of political and media agendas. Its peoples, cultures, histories have often been fading in the background of partisan rhetoric.
Méxtasis provokes new narratives on Mexican contemprary art by presenting practices that testify to the cultural ecstasys of México. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Bushwick Open Studios 2018.
