About

This is the second of a series of events on contemporary social questions. We've invited leading researchers and practitioners on risk to explore our attitudes to risk in our everyday lives — at home, at work and at play — the way they differ from the views of policy-makers and planners, and the way risk is portrayed in the media. Sir Bill Callaghan, Chair of the Legal Services Commission, former Chair of the Health and Safety Commission, will chair the debate. Speakers: Neil Budworth, Corporate Health and Safety Manager for E.On UK and Past President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. Professor Jenny Kitzinger, Director of Research, School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies, Cardiff University. Bridget M. Hutter, Professor of Risk Regulation & Director ESRC Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation London School of Economics and Political Science. A reception will be held after this event. This event is sponsored by the Academy of Social Sciences, the British Library and the Economic and Social Research Council.
