MY ROOMS Art Exhibition
About
My Rooms is an curatorial project by Olya Eliseeva, exploring the convergence of various artistic media and practices. This personal exhibition invites the audience into an intimate dialogue with the creative visions of the artists and curators Olya Eliseeva and Anastasia Rykunova. Within this space, art, curation, and direction interlace in a dynamic, multifaceted conversation, prompting visitors to engage deeply with the diverse dimensions of creative expression.
The "rooms" in the exhibition transcend mere physical spaces; they serve as metaphors for both the internal and external forces that shape the artists' creative journeys and curatorial methodologies. Each room invites a sensory exploration of the emotional, philosophical, and conceptual landscapes that these artists inhabit and represent.
As multidisciplinary artists and curators, Olya Eliseeva and Anastasia Rykunova blend poetry, sound, spatial installations, and video art to craft a unique experiential narrative. In this collaboration, both artists unite under a shared creative vision, presenting their perspective on art while providing the audience with a glimpse into the ideologies that inform their curatorial and artistic practices.
My Rooms is a multimedia spectacle, metaverse, incorporating video art, poetry, and spatial installations. The curatorial approach fosters an environment in which the audience becomes part of the artwork, engaging with the exhibition through interaction and introspection. Each "room" becomes a portal to a thematic exploration, inviting the viewer to step inside not only as an observer but as an active participant in the unfolding artistic experience.
Upon entering, guests are invited to don a mask, entering a state of heightened sensory awareness. The mediator, embodied by Andrei Novikov, acts as a guide through the immersive experience, leading the visitors through each room while encouraging them to connect with the space and the themes at play. This deliberate act of participation positions the viewer as an integral component of the exhibition, bridging the boundaries between the artwork and the observer.
Both Olya Eliseeva and Anastasia Rykunova are engaged in a wide range of projects that merge different media, offering a distinctive and collaborative approach to curatorial practice. Their mutual dedication to expanding the boundaries of artistic expression enriches the experience of My Rooms, a platform that encourages both personal and collective reflection on the transformative power of art.
Olya Eliseeva, founder of the Sisters Room Artist -run space, co-founder of Castello Art Residency and 11.12 Art Tesidency, brings her extensive expertise as an artist and curator to the exhibition. Working in video art, spatial installations, digital media, and painting, Eliseeva offers a nuanced perspective on contemporary art. Her focus on communication and interaction between artists and audiences is fundamental to her practice, and My Rooms serves as an avenue for addressing pressing issues in the art world, while fostering dialogue between creators and spectators.
Anastasia Rykunova, a curator and artist whose work spans painting, graphics, spatial installations, sound, and video art, is also a close collaborator of Olya Eliseeva. Their symbiotic relationship allows for a fusion of artistic sensibilities that elevate the exhibition, blending individual expressions into a cohesive, innovative whole. Rykunova’s art often intersects with Eliseeva’s in both aesthetic and thematic elements, generating a unique synergy that enhances the exhibition’s depth.
The exhibition showcases a spectrum of media, from video art to digital collage, with Rykunova’s pieces such as «Patsany, eto mrak» and «Ghosts Story», which reflect on themes of war and the lives of young men in post-Soviet society.
Olya’s Eliseeva contributions include works like «Afterlife», a digital installation that interrogates the effects of social media and digital technologies on contemporary culture, revealing the transient, interconnected nature of urban life and street culture.
