Exposure Gallery and TAG Fine Arts present a joint exhibition of work by Rob Ryan and Stephen Walter showing their own unique perspectives of our capital city.
Rob Ryan's original papercuts are beautiful, intricate and darkly romantic, mixing love with melancholy. Painstakingly hand-crafted, each work blends fantasy and truth, creating sincerely emotional scenes to which we can all relate. His paper cut works have appeared in collaborations with Liberty's of London, Paul Smith, Tatty Devine and Vogue, and now illustrate his book 'This Is For You' - a fairytale told through hand cut paper.
Stephen Walter's long term project 'The Island' took two years to complete. Inspired by the unfolding drama of life in London, Walter has created a stunningly detailed map of his city, through his eyes. Walter combined topographically accurate information (main roads, railway lines, landmarks and green spaces) with highly personal recollections and local facts gleaned from the internet, forming a vast yet intricate work. He has since painstakingly deconstructed 'The Island', mapping each London borough separately in a series of smaller prints.
