The exhibition Mutual Matters – Goldrausch 2021 features works of the 15 women artists participating in the Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt 2021.

About

For the first time ever, the final exhibition will take place in the direct vicinity of the project location: in the Große Halle of the Fahrbereitschaft in Berlin-Lichtenberg.

Every year since its foundation in 1989, the professionalisation programme has brought together 15 women artists from every field of the visual arts and with different experiences, personal aspirations and goals. What unites them is a common desire to establish themselves as artists. The one-year training course supports them in this endeavour by imparting the necessary professional knowledge and offering a forum for collegial exchange. This creates a counter-model to the archetype of the lone wolf, which is prevalent in the art world and throughout art history. This model aims to overcome the structural barriers that still exist for women in the arts today.

Under the title Mutual Matters, fifteen strong individual positions come into focus. The exhibition spans a broad discursive field and opens up diverse points of contact to the works of the artists. They deal with questions of identity and belonging, the relationship between humans, nature and technology and the choreographies that constitute our coexistence. They deal with both the tangible and the abstract; with architecture and space; with bodies, sounds and voices; with collectives, ideologies and abstract systems of order; with desires and fears, attributions, and with biographical, political and local knowledge.

With Mutual Matters – Goldrausch 2021, we invite visitors to discover 15 contemporary art perspectives and positions and to embark on a search for the common ground: the “mutual matters” in the works on display.
