About
Exploring the vitality of migration and mixing of musical forms will be our resident “mission crew” sound artists Dubmorphology (Gary Stewart and Trevor Mathison), along with multimedia artist and musician Derek Richards (aka HyperJAM aka rizomorph), music producer Mykaell Riley, and other special guests.

ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS
Dubmorphology is an interdisciplinary artist and research group comprising Trevor Mathison, a founding member of Black Audio Film Collective, and Gary Stewart. Recent exhibitions, biennials, laboratories and performances include Uprising, Bogota, Multiplicidade, Rio de Janeiro, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, Art Dubai, Madinat Jumeirah, Taipei Biennial, W.E.B. Dubois Institute, Cambridge, Afterimage, Bristol, and dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel.
Derek Richards is an artist, musician, composer and producer. As an artist, he has exhibited installation work around the world. He has worked as a musician, has scored for film and TV and composed music for and directed theatre. In the 90s, he co-founded Artec, the UK’s first centre for learning digital media production skills. He ran his own production company HyperJAM. Derek is a member of the audio-visual improv trio, YMV, featuring legendary jazz musicians Cleveland Watkiss and Orphy Robinson.
Mykaell Riley’s career started as a founder member of Steel Pulse. As a professional writer / producer, his work has encompassed TV, Film and Theatre, resulting in over eleven UK top twenty positions, and three UK number ones before moving into Academia. As Head of Music Production at the University of Westminster, he’s collaborated on projects for; the Mayor of London, Arts council England, The British Library, The British Museum, The Maritime Museum and the V&A, whilst also working as external examiner for Open University. Mykaell’s also director of The Black Music Research Unit, which in 2016, received the first major AHRC award entitled ‘Bass Culture’ to research the impact of reggae in Britain. Mykaell’s most recent output was the Ticketmaster State of Play Grime report.
