Murray O'Grady, 'Familiars'

'Familiars' Supercollider is pleased to announce the second exhibition in partnership with FYCreatives. For this exhibition Supercollider has invited emerging artist Murray O'Grady to present new and recent sculptural works. O'Grady's work stems from an interest in collectors, specifically in a particular type of collector; individuals involved in a spiritual relationship with the objects which they collect. This interest in collectors and their collections has propelled O'Grady along a rich vein of investigation with a home for this type of collector being found within the world of the Dandy. O'Grady cites figures such as Rhoald Dahl's Willy Wonka and Michael Jackson as potent examples of this type of character, noting that for these individuals the object is a sort of familiar, an entity on par with the self, capable of assisting in an understanding and exploration of the world".
