FIELDS IN PLURAL / BIG WATER
7. 5. - 25. 8. 2022
/Pragovka Gallery and The White Room/
The exhibition act will present works by a total of 33 artists, selected by an expert jury following an open call, on more than 1100 m2.
The exhibition aims to answer the current questions: To what extent are our data traces linked to our identity? What do they have to do with the theory of morphic resonance? And what role can they play in the mythology of the future? Are networks a metaphor for the human brain and vice versa? How to understand such similarities in contemporary art?
The curatorial project of Kamila Married Mycelium / NOVA FORMA 2 will be the centre of the exhibition. Its themes are fibres, mycelium, field, matrix and consciousness. The eight artists approached will present site-specific works that were created on the basis of their collaboration. The artistic team behind the project includes physicist and plasma behaviour specialist Jiří Vyskočil.
In the spirit of the exhibition's theme, the NOVA FORMA platform from Čáslav, which operates in the industrial space of the former Gum factory, has connected with Pragovka in Prague - and the networks of mycelia have linked and created a space for communication between two independent cultural locations. The project will thus run in two locations and will be intertwined in time and content.
The next part of the Fields in Plural exhibition, entitled Alternative Models of the Future - Speculative Research through Art, will focus on projects that work with digital media under the direction of curator Monika Szűcsová. This time, The White Room will be occupied by students of the New Media Studio of artist, teacher and Pragovka resident Vladimír Merta from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and the project Big Water. The connection of the projects will be curated by Lucie Nováčková, director of the Pragovka galleries.
