The show features paintings that challenge the conventional representation of everyday objects

About

Fábio Menino’s (São Paulo, Brasil, 1989) "Boca do mundo" ("Mouth of the World"), at Projeto 280X1020, features paintings that challenge the conventional representation of everyday objects. These objects, often work tools, are elevated, revealing social relationships and a humanized view of the industrialized world. The combination of oil and beeswax gives the canvases a rustic quality, contrasting with contemporary aesthetics.

"The objects in Fábio Menino’s paintings do not appear as if they are in the world. They hover, vertical and centered, in a diffuse space, sometimes manipulated by anonymous human figures and enveloped in a halo of light that emphasizes the flatness of the painted surfaces," comments José Bento Ferreira, exhibition text author.

The exhibition are under the artistic direction of Claudio Cretti, conceived by the Instituto de Cultura Contemporânea (ICCo), and supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Culture Incentive Law. The I Expository Cycle 2025 events are supported by Interfood, Casal Garcia, and Jägermeister.
