Join us for an evening exploring mourning and remembrance, through the artistic mediums of poetry and film. The museum and garden (weather permitting) will be open until 7.30pm, with poetry readings and screening from 6.30pm. Vrouwkje Tuinman and Olivia Humphreys will both be available for questions. ‘Intensive Care' Vrouwkje Tuinman ‘The monitor faded, the lines cut loose. Grey first, then white.' On the morning of New Year's Eve 2008 two young people met with an accident. The next week, they were buried. Since then, they have been missed. In both images and words, ‘Intensive Care' shows the inconceivable and unexpected aspects surrounding a sudden death. Poet and writer Vrouwkje Tuinman performs regularly at festivals and literary events in the Netherlands and abroad. In 2011 she published her fourth poetry collection: 'Wat ik met sleutel moet'. Together with photographer Andrea Stultiens she made the book/exhibition 'Intensive care', which is published in Dutch and English. In 2010 she was awarded the Halewijnprijs and won the Niek Woudenbergprijs 2012 for 'Intensive care'. 'Oneironauts - the Dream Travellers' and 'Noctuaries' Olivia Humphreys ‘In the ten years since she died, my mother has made regular appearances in my dreams. 'Oneironauts - the Dream Travellers' considers how these 'meetings' between us have changed over time, while 'Noctuaries' looks at how three generations of my family have coped with her death, through their dreams.' Olivia Humphreys is a documentary filmmaker and writer based in London, and recently completed a Masters in Screen Documentary at Goldsmiths. Her graduation film won the Royal Television Society award for Best Postgraduate Factual Film and the Best Documentary award at Exposures Film Festival. Her films have been screened in over forty festivals worldwide.
