Play-Time reflects on the way childhood imagination shapes who we become. Through nostalgic objects, Morrison explores memory, creativity, and the fleeting magic of play.
About
At the centre of this work is the act of play itself—a tool for making sense of the world as children. Starting with simple arrangements of familiar childhood objects on a tabletop, Morrison builds intricate scenes that weave together personal memories and universal experiences. The tabletop becomes a stage where the everyday meets the boundless. Props, lighting, and backdrops bring a sense of theatre to her work, echoing the grand themes of life—comedy, tragedy, and moments of mystery. There’s a darker undertone too, inspired by the cautionary tales of childhood, where shadows of wolves and witches hint at the unknown.
Play-Time invites us to reflect on our own beginnings and the creative sparks that still linger. It’s a thoughtful, nostalgic look at how the past shapes the present, and how play connects us to the world.
