About

Using a host of techniques and a range of colours you will experiment with mark making, stencils, painterly techniques, transfer monoprinting and use of mixed media to create simple unique prints quickly and with stunning effect.

Course structure:

Morning

• Introduction to LPW and the course.
• What is Monoprinting?
• Demo and hands on practice:
  -Transfer monoprinting – freehand / using a template
  -Positive and negative mark making on a plate
  -3 prints from one plate / using objects

Afternoon:

• Demo and hands on practice:
  -Transparent colour mixing using CMY
• Clean up and close of course.

About the Tutor – Kate DaCasto
Currently based in Leicester, Kate DaCasto is a fine artist whose practice spans drawing, photography, printmaking, installation and sculpture. Her subject matter is usually about transformation, growth and the emotional resonance of the discarded. As current Artist in Residence at LPW Kate is furthering her passion for etching and screenprinting. Having graduated in Fine Art from De Montfort University in 2010, Kate won 3 prestigious awards for both Printmaking and her art practice and has gone on to exhibit locally and nationally, has collaborated and exhibited as part of The Attic fine art collective as well as teach Fine Art at De Montfort University and printmaking at LPW.
