MONIKER Art Fair 2011 announces 2011 Gallery Line-up

About

Following its hugely successful debut last year, Moniker Art Fair is back to shake up London's art fair scene once again with its cutting edge crossover of fine art and street art. As well as continuing to focus on the more refined side of street art, Moniker will be expanding its 2011 programme to include galleries such as Scream, who will showcase art by LA neo-pop artist, Greg Miller at the fair. Other artists exhibiting include the up and coming Russell Young, street art favourites Ben Eine and Herakut, as well as the introduction of a strong group of Pop Surrealist artists such as Luke Chueh from California and New York photographer and 'beautiful loser' Cheryl Dunn. Moniker was responsible for putting East London on the art fair map in 2010. Challenging art fair convention with both gallery exhibits and six further signature project spaces ready to whet the appetites of the art crowds (to be announced in September), Moniker continues to pioneer a new breed of art fair which is set to wow the international art audience during Frieze week. Moniker has attracted dynamic international galleries such as Le Basse from Los Angeles, Andenken from Amsterdam and Producciones Graciasaella from the Canary Islands. Other highlights include Australian artists Dabs and Myla, who will be painting one of the large walls in their own signature style and curator Tina Ziegler who is preparing a fantastic collection for one of Moniker's project spaces and introducing a further talent from Pop Surrealism. With over 10,000 people walking through its doors last year, this year's Moniker Art Fair is set to bombard the art fair scene once again, with a matchless assemblage of artists and galleries who are often overlooked by mainstream art fairs. Moniker Art Fair is becoming recognised by those in tune with international art trends, along with collectors, critics and art lovers alike. Exhibiting galleries: Scream Gallery www.screamlondon.com The Mayfair Gallery, run by brothers Tyrone and Jamie Wood, will be exhibiting work by the newly recognised Russell Young, whose large compelling screen prints citing moments from popular culture have been bought by the likes of Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie. Other artists include the up-and-coming Pakpoom Silaphan and Greg Miller. Shea and Ziegler www.shea-ziegler.com Curators, Tina Ziegler and Moniker co-founder, Frankie Shea will be cementing their working relationship following on from their success of the ‘Gossip Well Told' exhibition for Moniker Projects. Californian Ziegler, now residing between Barcelona & London has created a name for herself through exhibiting the work of some of the most renowned international proponents of the pop surrealist art movement. Frankie Shea, who founded Campbarbossa gallery in 2005 quickly found his place as a leading tastemaker in the finer side of the street art movement. Together, Shea and Ziegler will be curating a designated artist project space at this year's Moniker Art Fair with Australian duo Dabs & Myla. Le Basse www.lebasseprojects.com The Los Angeles-based gallery will show works from Nate Frizzle, who weaves child-like stories into his highly rendered images with soft graphic design elements. La Basse will also bring film and multi-disciplinary genres to Moniker with Edwin Ushiro's work, as well as that of Alexandros Vasmoulakis, whose artistic skills lie across street art, painting, drawing and installation. Andenken www.matherkunst.com Andenken will introduce AIKO to Moniker, who blends a traditional Japanese aesthetic with a playful portrayal of femininity and beauty in human life. They will also be showcasing the work of dynamic character, Buff Monster, a Hollywood-based artist who cites heavy metal music, ice cream and Japanese culture in his work as well as lots of the colour, pink. Designer and painter Evan Hecox will also be exhibiting. Able & Baker Gallery www.ablebakergallery.com Able & Baker Gallery is an Urban Contemporary Art Space in Cologne, Germany. Located in an old-established art street in the centre of the city, Able & Baker Gallery is presenting works by young and emerging as well as established artists like Shepard Fairey, Herakut, Roa, Ben Eine, Swoon, L'atlas, Pam Glew, Tanc and many more. Producciones Graciasaella www.ciuc.es From the Canary Islands, comes a range of talents in photography, graphic design and drawing.
