About
Conceived for the large exhibition hall of the Berlinische Galerie, Bonvicini's installation amongst other things investigates the term facade and its function. The show runs parallel to the 15th Istanbul Biennale in which the artist is also participating and features elements from both cities - Berlin and Istanbul.
Monica Bonvicini studied at Berlin’s University of the Arts from 1986. Since then, apart from periods in Los Angeles, London and Pasadena, she has lived in the German capital. Over the years, the highly acclaimed artist has developed a pithy visual idiom and a multi-media approach. Her works have already been shown at many international venues. At her first solo exhibition for an institution in Berlin, the Berlinische Galerie acknowledges the artist’s special significance for our city.
The exhibition and catalogue have been facilitated by the Capital Cultural Fund.
