Momentum is the thread that holds Dawe’s Twineworks together. Situated on the old London/Cornwall road it is, and has always been, a place to pass through. With an industry built of moving parts. Propelling pirates, explorers and athletes around the world.
Taking his lead from the physical processes involved in the production of twine and the social impact of the twine industry on this small rural community Simon Lee Dicker has spent six months as artist in residence at Dawe’s Twineworks producing a body of work that explores how this industrial heritage has created a ‘sense of place’ that ripples into the contemporary life of the village.
Commissioned by Somerset Art Works (SAW) the exhibition will take place at the OSR Project Spaceand Dawe’s Twineworks during the Somerset Art Weeks Festival 2015.
