Model Behaviour is a group thematic show about the impulse, desire (and sometimes obsession) involved in trying to make something visible. Artists include James Casebere, Thomas Demand, Luisa Lambri and Toby Paterson.
About
The seeking out of the ideal or model form could be seen as a task that has been of central importance in the history of art. The making of a model provides a way of looking at things in more detail, a method through which the artist can hold a subject up to scrutiny. The intention might be to capture something that is unable to exist in reality. It could be to offer an alternative view, the making of a more fictive or distorted space that sparks the imagination towards more dramatic readings of objects, things and space. It is, perhaps, the ultimate sense of trying to contain ideas that have all the substance and consistency of smoke. Model Behaviour suggests that the elements which control or alter our experiences are so thoroughly integrated into existence, that sometimes we need to look towards the model to be able to see the gap between image and existence.
