Barcelona’s MIRA Festival has built a reputation as a groundbreaking event for the city, inviting leaders from the sonic, visual and digital arts circles to play each year. As we edge close to the ninth edition, MIRA drops another set of artists, installations, 3D sound shows and more, including VENETIAN SNARES x DANIEL LANOIS, YVES TUMOR feat. EZRA MILLER LIVE A/V, SEEFEEL performing QUIQUE featDAN CONWAY LIVE A/V, ATOM ™ presents DEEP STATE LIVE A/V, LIGHT, AVALON EMERSON DJ SET , SOUND, SPACE by NICK VERSTAND and SALVADOR BREED and plenty more DJs, VJs, experimental live acts and more set for 2018. Taking place in refurbished factory turned cultural space Fabra i Coats, it’s the perfect dystopian backdrop, and this year sees the introduction of a 3D sound stage for the ultimate experience. 

Centred around digital arts and the creatives within that world, MIRA is experimental yet inclusive, giving guests a chance to experience top level art whilst giving breakthroughs a platform. And there is plenty more announced - Breakcore experimentalist VENETIAN SNARES and DANIEL LANOIS bring their joint project to Fabra I Coats, teaming up with TIRADOR for an AV experience. French lighting designerGUILLAUME MARMIN joins with LICHT, MEHR LICHT! INSTALLATION commissioned by MIRA - a piece exploring the experience of near death experiences. NICK VERSTAND AND SALVADOR BREEDcollaborate for a brand new installation, also their first outing in Barcelona, plus on the rise visual artistNATALIA STUYK also makes her Barcelona debut with a striking visual set, prepared for a high voltageCALL SUPER DJ set. Jumping between jungle, breaks, techno and more, AVALON EMERSON, is an anticipated addition to the bill, bringing long time collaborator, JASON VOLTAIRE, on visual duties.SEEFEEL perform iconic album “Quique,” marking its 25th anniversary, plus new generation techno headrROXYMORE joins maximising the 3D sound space, AND YVES TUMOR combines forces with EZRA MILLER for an intimate, magical and intense performance of his new album.

Another not to miss event, Mannequin Records boss ALESSANDRO ADRIANI goes hardcore with a modular focussed new live show. Presenting new mathematical AV show, “Deep State,” ATOM ™ plays, as well as BORUSIADE performing recently released first album “A Body.” And there’s more creators; Rotten City Records trio CANNIBAL INK will open the 3D Sound Room by SON Estrella Galicia, nuxxe associate COUCOU CHLOE and dark dancefloor vibes from CAUTO and RALP. Further talent comes from the all important selectors travel between acid, electro, funk, house, techno and more with the don JOSEY REBELLE and ultra industrial electro comes from DJ STINGRAY.  

With immersive experience at the forefront, MIRA present the 3D sound room by SON Estrella Galicia. Aiming to bring a new edge to live music consumption, there’s 40 loudspeakers as part of this unique sound system. Across the weekend, this room hosts ALESSANDRO ADRIANI, rROXYMORE, BORUSIADE’s debut album “A Body” (Cómeme); CANNIBAL INK, and RALP, who performs with his modular synth system, DJs include Josey Rebelle and Stingray. In September, MIRA will announce the full Conference program with yet more audiovisual shows, and the MIRA DOME by adidas Original 360º stage.

2018 CAMPAIGN : The conceptualisation of the campaign focuses on the potential of all objects to produce sounds. Many sounds, sometimes imperceptible, are ignored by most in the day to day, however they are the raw material experimental music. As the internet occupies more space in our lives, phenomena such as the ASMR (Autonomous Meridian Sensorial Response) emerge, a virtual experience that, using binaural microphones, exploits this sound capacity of any type of object, and that is exposed via the Internet at disposal of an increasingly curious fetish public.” 

Tickets for MIRA are on sale from 55€ for two days or 70€ for three days. For those taking the trip to Barcelona, November is an ideal time, still sun-kissed.
