OPEN CALL. The Canal Boat Contemporary inaugural Miniatures Challenge.
About
Calling all painters and sculptors.
There is something mysterious and powerful about a tiny, perfect painting or sculpture.
"You want to know how to paint a perfect painting? It’s easy. Make yourself perfect and then just paint naturally." (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.)
Whatever size you usually work, we want to see how you adapt and exploit this unique, compelling form.
It's time for the inaugural Miniatures Challenge! Winners will exhibit aboard the good ship @canalboatcontemporary alongside invited guest artists.
The judges are Zarina from White Pube, Gareth Cadwallader and Anne Ryan.
To enter, simply follow our account, then post your entry to instagram, tagging it #miniatureschallenge and include in your entry description the text:
This is my entry to the @canalboatcontemporary Miniatures Challenge.
Entry deadline is midnight, 1st November 2024.
Private View: Wednesday 13th November, with the show running 14th-17th.
Good luck!
Ts&Cs: For paintings:
-Entries must be paintings, in any paint medium.
- They can be on any surface. Paper must be mounted on board. Be aware this is a painting show, not one of works on paper.
- They must be small enough to hold in your outstretched hand - 25 inches square or less. Ie - 5 inches along either side (if it were square), but you can pick a different ratio, so long as it's no larger.
For sculptures: - sculptures must be no larger than 5inches high, long or wide.
- they can be in any material
- There is no minimum size - although your work must be viewable, even if that needs lenses!
- they must be your own original work.
- the work must have been made in the last 2 years.
- If selected, you will be responsible for getting your work to us.
- The decison of the judges is final.
- you will only be contacted if you are successful. We'd love to write to everyone individually, but we don't have the resources.
- We reserve the right to change terms.
