Michael White: Machinery of Violence

Commissioned by YOUNG TEAM, the exhibition will feature a new body of sculptures and prints that explore the artist's fascination with cultural articulations of the modern political and ideological landscape with particular focus on the way in which these values are reinforced through the imagery and material of our immediate environs. Inspired by the the intricate social structures of Japanese culture and instruments of indoctrination, the sculptural work in the exhibition will combine new textile designs with the form of children's kimonos, an item of clothing which, due to it’s ubiquity, succinctly mirrored and articulate socio-political shifts within its context of origin.
