About

Step into an exhibition that evokes pages from a child's first alphabet book… but everything is not as it seems; A is not for Apple, but for Umbrella! One of today's most influential British artists, Michael Craig-Martin has embraced digital technology to produce an image bank of everyday objects — a resource he has used to create Alphabet. In this series of 26 vibrant screen-prints individual letters are overlaid with objects such as a shoe, a violin or an umbrella. Alphabet is shown alongside computer works and prints from Craig-Martin's Deconstructing series, in which he pays homage to masterpieces by Seurat and Piero. Alphabet is a Hayward Touring Exhibition from Southbank Centre, London
