Fifty paintings by the geometric-cubist artist Michael Canney (1923-1999) in the first major selling exhibition of his work since 1990. Canney was born in Falmouth and trained in St. Ives and at Goldsmiths´ College. He was appointed curator of Newlyn Art Gallery in 1956 and worked as a critic and broadcaster, as well as a painter. The exhibition includes work from the 1960s onwards: from large oils to precise jewel-like alkyd paintings on panel and reliefs.
