Michael Bartlett’s diverse subject matter includes art world personalities, people attending art exhibitions, animal stories and paintings inspired by the artists visits to the zoo. His work is highly expressive and although most of the work on the exhibition is small in scale, it’s not difficult to imagine the types of personalities depicted. At first glance his brightly coloured paintings appear to be light-hearted in nature, but on closer examination there is a carefully observed seriousness that make them all the more appealing to his many collectors and admirers.
