About
A metropolis has been defined as ‘the chief city of a country, region or state, a large conurbation which is a significant economic, political and cultural centre and an important hub for regional or international connections, commerce and communications’.
Birmingham is itself a thriving metropolis, the second largest city in the UK with more than one million residents and one of the youngest, most diverse populations in the country and a dynamic, creative city that is constantly evolving.
Inspired by this urban energy the RBSA Metropolis exhibition will explore the physical aspects of a metropolis and/or the people who inhabit, work and visit it and will include jewellery, ceramics and textiles as well as sculpture, drawing, painting, original digital fine art and printmaking.
