About

“Memories of Singapore River” is a documentary film presented in Mandarin with English subtitles, which seeks to explore the changes to the Singapore River over the years through the lens of established local artists Lim Tze Peng(林子平), Low Puay Hua(刘培和) and Ang Ah Tee(洪亚弟). These artists have sat by the Singapore River for hours, crafting paintings which have become their masterpieces, and observing the communities surrounding the Singapore River in a way that only artists can. Using the Singapore River’s story as an example, this documentary showcases the versatility and value of artwork as a bearer of memories, and lifestyles that no longer exist today.

The programme includes film screenings at ACM and onboard the Singapore River Cruises, an exhibition of the river sketches, Memories of Singapore River: Paintings by Local Artists held in conjunction at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore by artcommune gallery, and public 'walk & sketch' events along the Singapore River supported by the Singapore Watercolour Society, the Siaw Tao Seal-Carving Calligraphy & Painting Society as well as the amateur group Urban Sketchers Singapore.
