Meet the Artist: Si Smith

Si Smith is a Leicester-born illustrator and artist who has lived and worked in Leeds since 2004. His practice is built upon a strong foundation of observational drawing. As well as making prints and creating comics, he teaches and curates, including previous exhibitions at Left Bank Leeds.

Si's exhibition at Left Bank collects over 200 of his small drawings, created over the last five years. Divided into three sections – Garden, Journey and People - the work captures tiny and often fleeting snapshots of life.

The 'Garden' drawings were created during mindful morning coffee rituals outside, while the 'People' collection portrays Leeds folk spied from the window of the bus. 'Journey' finds the artist in the passenger seat of the car, or on the train, seeking solace and solitude in the landscapes passing by.

This laid-back event offers an opportunity for you to view Si's work, chat to him and, if you like, purchase artwork. You can drop in at any time during the two hours.
