About
2018 marks five years since Ruptly made its debut on the media landscape. To celebrate, the news agency is curating an exhibition with Berlin photographer and subculture darling Maxime Ballesteros, who has taken a series of portraits showcasing the company’s dynamic team.
Hintergründe, which translates as 'Backgrounds', pays tribute to the unique blend of characters and cultures that shape Ruptly. From sunny parks to cosy bars, the eclectic group takes you on a tour of Berlin, a place that has welcomed diversity and creativity with open arms.
One of Ruptly’s own said that, “Berlin is the place where I feel home, where I feel free and accepted”. While another long time team member echoed, “I always felt out of place as a first-generation immigrant in America and now I’ve found a place where people share my values”.
Hintergründe is a homage to the forward-thinking individuals who are helping shape the way we access news today.
Maxime Ballesteros was born in Lyon, France. His photographs have been featured in exhibitions in France, USA, Belgium, Russia, Germany, Great Britain and Denmark. His work has been published in 032c, Esquire, Monopol, Sleek Magazine, Ssense, Vice Germany, W Magazine, Zeit Magazin and many more. He has been based in Berlin since 2007.
Ruptly, a global multimedia agency, has built a disruptive reputation in an old guard industry owing to its young team with backgrounds as far-ranging as the international news coverage they produce. Its office speaks 40 languages between journalists, artists, engineers, and other professionals. Hailing from all over, from Sweden to Japan, they meet together at Ruptly Berlin HQ with one common goal - to expand views by delivering the stories the world wants, with an alternative perspective that audiences deserve.
