After Salem left the FBI investigation
into Abdel-Rahman’s circle in late July 1992,
Abdel-Rahman made a call to Pakistan and apparently requested
a replacement bomb maker.

About

On September 1, 1992,
Abdul Basit Abdul Karim and Ahmad Mohammed Ajaj
landed at JFK international Airport.
Ajaj didn’t make it through customs
with his crudely faked passport
and was pulled away screaming.
Customs officials would find
four fake passports, videos, and bomb-making manuals
in Ajaj’s luggage.
His traveling partner stood before a customs agent,
giving the name Ramzi Ahmed Yousef
and calmly asked for political asylum.
