Mathias Mons works with botanical sculpturing and design. By exploring each detail in nature media, he composes it with the functions of man-made materials and uses it in a research of new possibilities. A fascination of mutations gives the sculptures an abnormal mode of expression. The work consists of wearable designs too which decreases the distance between nature and human skin. With an insight in reptilian morphology, he uses unconventional techniques to combine the human silhouette with our reptilian ancestors. Mathias collaborates with other artist to bring his creations in more realistic context. “As a botanical artist I want to emphasize hidden beauties in collaboration with nature. Maybe one day we can make a skin connection between the human races and nature growth” Mathias Mons (Mathias Hansen born 1991, Ganløse, Denmark) is an autodidact artist and lives in Ganløse (with a small distance to Copenhagen). He works freelance as artist and visual merchandiser.
