This four week course will incorporate traditional processes, critical discussion and experimentation with materials to develop four different approaches to making objects and sculpture.
About
Taking an expansive approach participants will work and consider the potential of various materials such as hand building with clay, mould making with rubber, casting and using found objects.
Lauren Gault’s sculptural, written and performance-based practice looks at the resonant quality of materials; how objects can evoke more intangible experiences, such as a period of time, a place or a presence.
Lauren Gault received her BA in Fine Art (First Class Hons) from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee. She currently lives and works in Glasgow, working in writing, performance and installation.
Recent solo exhibitions include: ’lipstick-NASA a temporary solo commission for Jupiter Artland, Wilkieston, 2015, ‘Fugue States’ (with Allison Gibbs), Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow 2015, ’Plosive blows’, Hotel Maria Kapel, Hoorn, The Netherlands, 2015, ‘Y.O.R.B’, Atelier Am Eck, Düsseldorf 2014, ‘Here Bianca!’, GENERATORprojects, Dundee, ‘Granular and Crumb’, Edinburgh Modern Film School, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop; ‘Sweet ensilage’, Tramway, Glasgow (all 2013), ‘Lacks’, the Duchy Gallery, Glasgow, 2010.
