About

Centre for Recent Drawing presents the work by London-based artist Mary Yacoob, a recent graduate of the Sir John Cass School and Central St Martin's. Yacoob's work centres on using drawing and visual languages to observe, figure-out and communicate. What follows is the filtering of observation of everyday life through system based techniques such as repetition, geometry, and extrapolation. She appropriates symbolic visual grammars from architectural plans, geological maps, diagrams, and alphabets. Her work ranges from the documentation of the minutia of daily life in diagrammatic form, to the creation of systemic work from architectural spaces that question ideas of urban planning and public art through proposals for often unrealisable interventions. Please join us for the reception for the reception for this exhibition 6 - 8pm Wednesday 17 March 2010 or during the exhibition 17 March - 23 April 2010. Centre for Recent Drawing is open during exhibitions 12 - 6pm from Wednesday to Friday at 2 - 4 Highbury Station Road, Highbury Islington, London. C4RD is a Registered UK Charity 1123530, and would particularly like to acknowledge the support for this exhibition of ARTUPDATE.COM/.
