The artist names Yervand Kochar, an important avant-garde artist, founder of "Painting in Space", as one of her major inspirations. In Kochar, paintings gain dimension and enable dynamic viewing from changing vantage points. Mary Moon's pictorial elements which are perceived as sculptures, acquire dimension through shadows created by different light sources. The city which Kochar placed within the human body, has overwhelmed and swallowed the body to flatten with itself. Mary Moon's installations depict flat cityscapes, and paintings are produced in limited palette.
