About
After four very successful previous exhibitions at Mandell’s Gallery we are delighted to host Martin Laurance’s fifth solo exhibition, ‘From Land to Sea’.
Featuring his recent landscapes in mixed media and oil with a focus upon the area where sea, sky and land meet, the paintings range from the Norfolk coast
to Yorkshire, Cornwall, and Orford Ness on the Suffolk coast.
‘Martin Laurance is an expressive painter, expressing how it feels to be at a particular place at a particular time. His style has always been bold, using colours and techniques in a way that make an inimitable statement.’ Martin Last, Galerie LAST, Zurich.
‘He is an artist who is blessed with a marvellous ability to convey the essential outlines of a scene in both vibrant colour and a more brooding monochrome tonality. Confident black brushstrokes have a confident, easy fluidity, marking out linear barriers. The spaces between the lines are then often blocked in with bright rectangles of colour, balanced by areas of bright white paper or canvas.’ Charlotte Crawley.
Martin Laurance has lived and painted in Norwich for many years. His paintings are exhibited throughout the UK and internationally. His work is in many collections including that of the National Trust.
