In her painting Kunikowska-Mikulska combines contemporary elements with archaic, traditional motifs such as colourful, folk skirts or ceramic bird-whistles. She presents the characters of his canvases in the states of thoughtfulness, nostalgia, melancholy, longing - lying on the grass, dreaming, often curled up in defensive embryo position. The artist draws attention to individual, internal human experiences as well as the role and influence of the beliefs and traditions of our ancestors on ourselves, living in other, ever-changing modernity.
