The Fourth Greenhouse project is the result of several years of research. The project deals with the conflict between nature and culture, juxtaposition of organic growth, and artificial, human-made form; and with the idea of closing nature into a glass greenhouse box and thus building an artificial paradise, or an exotic, locally non-original environment. The narrative is important for The Fourth Greenhouse project – it reveals the forgotten history of the Myslibořice estate and its owner at that time Josef Taaffe, an English aristocrat living in the Czech countryside in the early 19the century. The count’s hobbies were mainly botany and collecting. He did not hesitate to build a generous botanic garden in his county, where he grew many exotic plants from around the world. Simply the story ends – Taaffe spent all his money on this hobby and was forced to sell all his property, including the botanic garden, which was left uncared-for.

Marta Fišerová Cwiklinski uses her artworks as tools to reveal social structures. Her works offer comments on various current and past phenomena, which often have political, sociological, or ecological connotations. Through her own subjective experiences, memories, reflections and associations, Marta creates installations that carry the unshakable truth about the world we live in.

Marta Fišerová Cwiklinski (*1987) is an artist and a curator. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology.
