About
Mark Evans creates stunning images of iconic figures from the worlds of fashion, film, sport and graphic novels. After a decade perfecting his artform, Mark is in demand for his unique hand-etched leather portraits and skulls. For his first solo exhibition, Mark has created powerful new images featuring ex-England Captain John Terry as Caravvagio's 'David', Supermodel Naomi Campbell, boxing legend Muhammed Ali, and the late Alexander McQueen.
He describes working with this unusual medium as 'a visceral experience for me. It's something primal I'm trying to understand. We live in this nano, synthetic reality....in our digital age leather has an authenticity'. The Scream Gallery show is the first opportunity to see Mark's most recent creations in the flesh, and his photo realistic portraits delve deep beneath the surface of personalities from popular culture, capturing their true spirit.
