About

On Friday 12 November, the Gallery Edarcom Europa, in via Macedonia 12, will host the opening of Sorpreso in flagranza di sogni, a solo exhibition by the Master Mario Ferrante. On this occasion the artist will present to the public a preview of his book Diario di un ritrattista, published by Gruppo Albatros Il Filo. The official presentation will take place on Thursday December 2 nd in the Apollo Hall of Castel Sant'Angelo. In this first literary work, Ferrante retraces the events and places that inspired his paintings, full of the poetry and charm of the evocative atmospheres of Brazil, the land of his childhood.
In the more than 30 works selected for the exhibition, the viewer will have the opportunity to rediscover Ferrante stylistic evolution over the last twenty years. His style, at first close to a more realistic figuration, becomes progressively contaminated with a personal informality of representation, realised through the use of palette knives,
ideal for transmitting dynamism to the composition. Mario Ferrante was born in Rome in 1957. Among the most significant events in his career are his participation in the Alitalia per l'Arte project, with exhibitions in the Freccia Alata rooms at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York, Malpensa airport in Milan and Leonardo Da Vinci airport in Rome, the exhibition at the National Art Club in New York (1999), the exhibition Maschere ed anime at the Maschio Angioino in Naples (2003), Ubique vacuum at Palazzo Venezia in Rome (2007) and, in the same year, Le ombre della croce del Sud again at the
Maschio Angioino in Naples, Sinfonia di Berlino. Negro no coração at the Brazilian Embassy in Germany (2010) and, in the same year, with Work in progress. A bênção da mãe de santo again at the Museo del Sannio in Benevento, and again Ventre molle. Napoli come Rio at Castel dell'Ovo in Naples (2013) and, in the same year,
Oltre il cielo. L'aria ed il cuore at the Brazilian Embassy in Italy. Three years later with L'amore al tempo delle stelle cadenti at the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague (2016) and finally Il dialogo dei Contrapposti. I protagonisti del ‘900 presso la Reggia di Caserta (2019).

The exhibition, curated by Francesco Ciaffi, will run until 28 November 2021. Access to the opening of the exhibition will be allowed in compliance with the security rules and therefore the Green Pass must be presented at the entrance. A Green Pass is not required to visit the exhibition on the remaining days.
