Rags to riches commonly refers to any situation in which an individual rises from poverty to wealth, and in some cases from absolute obscurity to heights of fame—sometimes instantly. This is a common archetype in literature and popular culture *

Wolfryd points the ways in which art circulates, generates revenue, creates symbolic value and validates speculation with new works in a variety of media such as drawing, video and readymade objects. Each of the works represents the basic steps in the process of secondary art market counterfeit; so the titles of each work is taken from terms commonly used in formal secondary art market transactions.

Marek Wolfryd, 1989 lives and works in Mexico City; he graduated at the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving `La Esmeralda` in Mexico City. His work has been exhibited national institutions such as The Carrillo Gil Museum and La Tallera as well as in prolific spaces such as Nixon and Biquini Wax.

Wolfryd is a also a funding member of the popular artist-run space Ladrón
