We are excited to start the new CAST Film Club season with an evening dedicated to the work of the Dutch artist filmmaker Manon de Boer. Manon de Boer will come to Cornwall for the screening and will take part in a Q&A with curator Laura Smith of Tate St Ives.

About

Manon de Boer works primarily with film, often subjecting the medium itself to critical scrutiny; for example, she insistently probes the interplay between image and sound and questions the power of pictures as well as their claim to truth. At CAST we shall show two films. An Experiment in Leisure, presented earlier this year at Cubitt in London, is a compelling new 16mm film work that explores the link between free time and creativity, between leisure and the kind of imaginative contemplation it facilitates. Two Times 4’33’’, made in 2008, is a short film of two performances of John Cage’s eponymous composition, 4’33”.

Free event and all welcome. There is no need to reserve a seat.

At 6.30pm, before the event, food will be served in CAST Cafe - something hot and something sweet for £6.
