Manchester Art Fair 2018 (previously Buy Art Fair), the largest, longest established and most prestigious art fair in the North, will feature 125 exhibitors showing thousands of original artworks from over five hundred hand-picked artists.

About

Manchester’s Buy Art Fair has been renamed as, simply, Manchester Art Fair, to reflect the city’s burgeoning cultural brand in the UK and internationally. The North’s largest art fair returns to Manchester Central on 12-14 October with more exhibiting galleries and artists than ever.

Following ten successful years, during which Northern art lovers and collectors have snapped up over £4m of contemporary art, Manchester’s Buy Art Fair, the largest, longest established and most prestigious in the North, has revealed its new name - Manchester Art Fair. The fair will return to Manchester Central on 12-14 October 2018 with 125 exhibitors showing thousands of works from over six hundred handpicked artists.

“There’s a beauty in transparent branding,” says Fair CEO, Thom Hetherington, “And we’re proud of our home city and have been informally known as ‘Manchester Art Fair’ for years anyway. After ten years we felt it was time for a refresh, and Manchester Art Fair is the right name for the next ten years and beyond. It tells everyone exactly who and what we are and pays tribute to Manchester’s incredible cultural renaissance which has resonated around the world.”

With the same experienced team behind it and an extended advisory committee of respected arts professionals, Manchester Art Fair is now firmly established as the definitive Northern fair on the British art fair scene. The new name reflects the fair’s ambition to continue to support and nurture a burgeoning art market in Manchester and across the North. Manchester Art Fair will continue to host its sister event The Manchester Contemporary which offers work for sale from the most exciting, critically engaged, contemporary artists and galleries.

Plans for Manchester Art Fair 2018 are well underway with over two thirds of exhibiting artists and galleries already selected. Nathaniel Pitt from Division of Labour has been appointed as the new curator for The Manchester Contemporary and sponsors and cultural partners are signing up in record numbers. The ultimate plan is to create Manchester’s biggest weekend of arts & culture encompassing exhibitions, special events and offers at cultural institutions and the city’s leading food & drink operators.

Manchester Art Fair opens with a VIP Preview at 17:00 on Friday 12 October while public days take place on Saturday 13 October from 10:00 to 18:00 and on Sunday 14 October from 10:00 to 17:00. Weekend tickets are £5 each and VIP preview night tickets are £12. Tickets are available now at manchesterartfair.co.uk
