About

An exhibition by three artists/craftsmen well known in Oxford and beyond, who meet regularly to discuss their work but are here exhibiting together for the first time. Malgorzata Bialokoz Smith is a painter, originally from Poland, whose subject matter is The Human Existence, confidently expressed by the varied and original techniques she has developed over many years. Betty Blandino makes ceramic vessel forms without the use of a wheel by a method she has developed using a pinch coil technique. This results in thin-walled pieces that are characteristically irregular and sculptural. Edith Holt is particularly fascinated by the post-firing technique of Raku, a co-operation with fire that she relishes and which gives rise to the unpredictable crazing, smoking and lustres which make or break the special beauty of this elemental process.
